Spinal Health

Taking care of one’s spine should be of the upmost importance. The spine allows one to stand/sit upright, disburse weight and movement properly, and it is also the channel of communication between our brains and the rest of the body.

When spinal health is neglected, the muscles in the body adapt by pulling the bones within the body. This can result in posture change. Posture change, overtime, will wear on one’s joints, lead to headache, nerve pain and of course neck/shoulder/back pain. Research shows that round 90% of the population will suffer from spinal pain at some point in their lives.

Here are a few helpful tips on how to keep the spine healthy and moving!

PRACTICE GOOD POSTURE: Sitting and standing correctly will automatically take a load of stress off the body

MAINTAIN AN APPROPRIATE WEIGHT

STAY HYDRATED: Hydration is important to maintaining soft tissue elasticity and fluidity in the joints.

WEAR GOOD SHOES

STAY FLEXIBLE: Flexibility helps maintain normal joint function and good range of motion. Super tight muscles can pull on the bones causing postural changes.

EXERCISE: Chose an exercise routine that combines stretching, strengthening and aerobic activity. Together these will create a happy healthy spine!
